The day of the start of school is exciting for any student, but in the case of first-graders, we are dealing with completely different emotions and responsibilities. Moreover, this day is emotional for both children and parents..
That is why we have developed a practice at the British-Georgian Academy that helps us simplify and make the transition to a new level more enjoyable. This year, we also held a ceremonial meeting with the first-graders a few days before they started their studies. Together with their parents, we introduced them to their new teachers and classmates, showed them around the classrooms, and treated them to cookies made by our cafeteria.
Similar events show us every year that after preliminary meetings, both students and parents find it much easier emotionally to transition to a new stage of education and their psychological readiness is strengthened.
