On December 4, 2023, the British-Georgian Academy’s IB DP Program’s 12th grade Psychology students visited the Psychological Rehabilitation Center for Wounded and Injured Soldiers of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
The students took a psychology course, specifically clinical psychology, within the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), focusing on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), its biological and cognitive causes, and pharmacological and therapeutic treatment options.
During the field trip, the students met with individuals working in the Georgian security forces, including wounded and injured military personnel, as well as psychologists working with them and their family members, and learned about the specifics of the service in terms of helping soldiers. They received practical information from professional psychologists and asked questions to gain deeper knowledge on clinical psychology issues related to post-traumatic stress disorder.
